A life in hypnosis, from Istanbul to the world.
Born in Istanbul in 1945, Ali Esref Muezzinoglu is a graduate of the Istanbul School of Dentistry (today Marmara University Faculty of Dentistry). He began working on medical hypnosis with Op. Dr. Hüsnü İsmet Öztürk in 1972 and has since built a clinical practice spanning more than half a century.

Education & early years
His interest in science and psychology led him, during dental training, to read on hypnosis in order to work with anxious patients. In 1972 he joined Op. Dr. Hüsnü İsmet Öztürk's clinical work, where he discovered how conscious hypnosis could serve medical disciplines.
Societies & academia
He co-founded the Turkish Society of Hypnosis (THD) in 1991, serving as its founding president. He brought the society to a level of international recognition and, beginning in 1999, taught hypnosis at Yeditepe University's Faculties of Dentistry and Medicine — later adapting the program to three universities.
International contribution
As a council member of the European Society of Hypnosis (ESH) and member of the International Society of Hypnosis (ISH) and American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH), he has represented Turkey in the global hypnosis community. In 2012 he received the World Hypnosis Society's “Best Clinician and Teaching Professor” award and ISH's prestigious Kay Thompson Award.
Today
As honorary president of THD and advisor to GETAT-UZDER, he continues to support the ethical, safe and scientific spread of conscious hypnosis, turning his clinical cases and lecture notes into enduring references for future clinicians.
